Acushnet Conservation Commission Issues Four Approvals at July Public Hearing

Conservation · Meeting of July 22, 2026

Acushnet Conservation Commission approves four land actions, splits on grass-coverage standard at July 22 hearing. Acting Chairman Christian DeSousa presided as the commission issued an order of conditions for a new single-family home on Angelo Drive, confirmed a wetland delineation at 1212 Main Street for a 26-acre property owned by Equity Real Estate's James Sabra, and voted to accept a modification letter for the approved 1094 Main Street solar project rather than require a formal amended order. The most contentious item was the certificate of compliance for Shane and Courtney Tracy at 185 Mattapoisett Road, where Conservation Agent Julia Goncalves reported grass coverage of roughly 40 to 50 percent against a 70-percent standard; member Heidi Pelletier voted against issuance, saying "we have a set standard we're supposed to be following," but the commission approved 3 to 1, citing the property's pending Wednesday closing and effective erosion matting.

The commission also extended the Order of Resource Area Delineation for a 3.116-megawatt solar farm at 540R Main Street while directing the applicant to file a formal amended order to record peer-review-revised wetland boundaries, and acknowledged the resignation of longtime member James Souza.
