Conservation · Meeting of October 28, 2026

ACUSHNET — The Acushnet Conservation Commission approved a Boy Scout Troop 11 camping license and granted Deep Brook Estates LLC a three-year extension on its subdivision road permit. Selectman Bob Hinkley presented the scout license, which bars permanent structures and sets a 10 p.m. campfire curfew. A Deep Brook Estates representative identified as Mr. Costello initially sought two years but was urged by a commissioner to request three, who called it "a better ask." New Leaf Energy's Brandon Smith detailed a redesigned solar project at 52 Morse's Lane cutting required clearing from 32.6 acres to 22.5 acres; the hearing was continued to December 16 pending peer review.

The board issued a negative determination for a Gammons Road home project and continued a P.J. Keating Company stormwater permit to November 18 amid an unresolved concern, raised repeatedly by one member, about river discharge: "that question has never been answered, addressed."
