Conservation · Meeting of August 26, 2026

ACUSHNET — The Acushnet Conservation Commission voted to invalidate a lapsed 2007 wetlands permit for a never-built metal building at 1527 Main Street. Acting Chairman Christian De Sousa said the order of conditions for Paul and Debra Arruda's proposed structure had "never commenced," meaning any future work there now requires a new Notice of Intent. Conservation Agent Julia Goncalves told the board the original approval dated to 2007 and involved a Zoning Board of Appeals variance that was never acted on.

The commission also unanimously approved a farmer's porch Notice of Intent for Nick Pacheco at 22 Blaine Street, continued a Hathaway Road subdivision hearing for Austin J. Cusson to September 16, and voted to add a suggested, non-mandatory roof infiltration downspout design to future permit filings after a Board of Health member, Bob Medeiros, proposed the change. New member Jennifer Tavares joined the commission but has not yet been sworn in and cannot vote.
