Conservation · Meeting of August 12, 2026

ACUSHNET — The Acushnet Conservation Commission resolved a wetlands violation and approved three permits during a hearing-heavy session. Acting Chairman Christian De Sousa and member Douglas Thomas, operating with two open seats after the Select Board appointed replacements the same night, approved an after-the-fact permit for Doug and Lauren Lemieux's unpermitted drainage ditch on Hathaway Road, calling it an "expensive lesson." The commission issued a Certificate of Compliance to the Buzzards Bay Coalition for septic work at 91 South Main Street, approved a new single-family home for Chandler Palmieri and Justin Andrade on Middle Road with a $250 noncompliance fine and site-visit conditions, and granted negative determinations for driveway and pool projects on Hathaway Road and Quaker Lane. A Board of Health member told the commission "he has no jurisdiction" over stormwater approvals, correcting a prior mischaracterization.

A fourth hearing, for Austin Cusson's proposed Hathaway Road home, was continued to August 26.
