Acushnet Conservation Commission Continues Two Solar Cases, Acts on Wetland Violations

ACUSHNET -- November 25, 2025, Acushnet Conservation Commission deferred action on two major solar projects and a contested wetland violation at its November 25 meeting. The commission voted unanimously to continue public hearings for both the Sankapa Park Drive LLC 4,999-kilowatt solar and battery storage project and Clemsway Solar LLC's 1094 Main Street ground-mounted array to its December 10 meeting. In new business, the commission unanimously issued a negative determination on a septic system repair at 49 Hathaway Road, where engineer Rick Sharon of Sharon Associates told the board the redesigned Elgin system places leaching fields 50 feet from flagged wetlands, "a tight site" with no better option. The commission approved an order of conditions, with one abstention, for a one-bedroom ADU and expanded septic at 40 Quaker Lane for Darren and Samantha Reyes, with special conditions including a pre-construction site meeting and an 18-month compliance window. A contested possible wetland violation at 2 Tilly Way, where the conservation agent reported disturbed vegetation, piles of dirt, and an unauthorized small bridge, drew sharp debate but could not be voted on as it appeared only under agent updates; the matter goes back on the formal December 10 agenda with a botanist determination potentially required.
