Acushnet Names New Building Commissioner
Acushnet selectmen appointed Thomas Curry as building commissioner and accepted assessor Kelly Koska's resignation.
Board of Selectmen · Meeting of August 19, 2026
Acushnet selectmen appointed Thomas Curry as building commissioner and accepted assessor Kelly Koska's resignation. The board, with Selectman Robert Hinckley absent, also named Kristen Abadacola as the new DPW business manager and corrected six budget figures in the town's June 10 minutes, including shifting the police line from $3,106,000 to $3,100,060. Officials said the building commissioner vacancy mattered because "without building permits being issued, we suffer no new growth, and that's one of our prime revenue sources." Koska, resigning after 25 years effective August 21, was called "an absolute sweetheart" by one board member.
The board also approved a Eversource utility pole relocation on Middle Road, appointed 39 election workers, and approved the September 1 state primary warrant for Acushnet Elementary School.
