Acushnet Select Board approves 36-acre conservation restriction on Main Street
Select Board · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Acushnet Select Board approves a 36-acre conservation restriction and refuses to pay Flock Safety's $500 camera-removal fee. The board, absent Selectman Gasper, unanimously accepted the Buzzards Bay Coalition-brokered restriction for 680 Main Street, protecting pasture, woodland and wetlands down to Tinkham Pond; Buzzards Bay's John Chester called it a way to preserve "the ability to use the site for agriculture." Board member Resendiz detailed a monthlong dispute with Flock Safety following the board's September 2 vote to terminate its camera contract, saying Police Chief Kapa reported the camera decommissioned but Flock sought $500 for early removal. "That's not happening," Resendiz said, moving to have the town's attorney demand removal at no cost over safety concerns tied to the pole's missing breakaway slip plate.
The board also reappointed Joanne C. Mason to the Cultural Council and named Amanda Hart, Mackenzie Denon and Liam Santos to golf-course and weigher positions.
