Acushnet Select Board previews 15-article special town meeting warrant

ACUSHNET — November 1, 2025 — Acushnet Select Board runs through all 15 special town meeting articles ahead of Monday's 7 p.m. session. Town Moderator Les Dakin led the board in a dry run of motions at the November 1 meeting, with the largest item being Article 11's $3.5 million appropriation to build a golf course clubhouse — $1.25 million from enterprise retained earnings and $2.25 million in borrowing — requiring a two-thirds vote. Articles 5 and 6 together rescind a $600,000 borrowing authorization from September 2024 and replace it with a $475,000 ambulance purchase funded through $275,000 in free cash and $200,000 from EMS revenues. Article 9 would transfer $625,000 from free cash to cover excess health insurance claims and related litigation from fiscal years 2024 and 2025. The board also disclosed that a resident has filed a complaint with the state Office of the Inspector General alleging a procurement violation in connection with a Civil War monument project, a matter now referred to town counsel.
