Acushnet Select Board installs new town administrator, hires police officer

ACUSHNET — March 31, 2026 — Acushnet Select Board welcomed a new town administrator, hired a police officer, and reorganized its leadership in a wide-ranging March 31 session. Adam LaMontagne, whose contract had already been signed, was introduced to the public by outgoing Chairman David Warner and set to begin work the following morning; Warner then stepped aside as chairman early, with Kevin Gaspar elevated to chair for the remainder of the term, to give LaMontagne a consistent leadership contact. The board unanimously approved a contingent offer to lateral-hire Christopher Del Tato as a full-time police officer at step three pay under a Teamsters MOU, with Chief Gary Caporello describing Del Tato's crime-scene and evidence-collection credentials as "very rare and much needed." A second police hire is expected at the next meeting, pending completion of a background check.
