Acushnet Select Board Hires Local Resident as DPW Laborer and Truck Driver

ACUSHNET — February 5, 2026 — Acushnet Select Board unanimously hires local resident Evan Murray as a DPW laborer and truck driver. The board, which had been advertising and interviewing for the position, approved Murray in two sequential votes at its February 5 meeting: first a general appointment motion, then a second motion placing him at Step 1 of the fiscal year 2026 compensation grid, both passing without opposition. The chair welcomed Murray to the town following the vote, noting the department had been in need of additional help. One board member also used the meeting's announcements period to publicly thank residents who shoveled sidewalks after a recent snowstorm, saying it made passage through town significantly safer.
