Acushnet Planning Board sends floodplain fix, tree fund to town meeting warrant

ACUSHNET — April 16, 2026 — Acushnet Planning Board advances floodplain correction and new tree-fund to annual town meeting. The board voted unanimously on seven actions at its April 16 meeting, including endorsing two approval-not-required land divisions on Perry Hill Road and Main Street, both presented by surveyor John Romanelli of Zenith Land Surveyors. Chair Mark Francois and members Bryan Deschamps and Peter Giampa — with Town Planner Victoria Alfaro joining via Teams — approved a stormwater modification for the Acushnet Solar facility at 1050 Main Street after peer reviewer Merrill Engineering found the storage-volume calculations adequate. The board closed a public hearing and sent a correction to the town's Floodplain Overlay District bylaw to the warrant, adding Flood Zone A and Zone AO that were omitted from the original state model bylaw. A land management revolving fund — seeded by roughly $7,500 already collected from a solar applicant unable to replant displaced trees — also goes to town meeting, with a complete streets policy simultaneously forwarded to the Select Board for adoption.
