Acushnet Planning Board continues Clemson Way solar hearing to December 4

ACUSHNET — November 21, 2025 — Acushnet Planning Board pushes 45-megawatt Clemson Way solar decision to December 4. The board continued the three-year-old public hearing on the Clemson Way Solar, LLC proposal at 1094 Main Street after the applicant agreed to remove all solar panels from within the required 150-foot setback — conceding a point Chair Mark Francois and other members had pressed at every hearing since March. Attorney Zachary Farkas said the applicant is prepared to submit revised plans with the buffer-zone panels removed and expects to close in December. Vice Chair Richard Ellis raised repeated stormwater concerns tied to a prior Acushnet solar project where infiltration basins failed in similar clay-heavy soils, flooding neighbors and contaminating a surface water well; Francois said he will consult the Conservation Commission before the December 4 session. Abutter Kevin Furtado, of 86 Robinson Road, told the board the land along the project's eastern boundary was "extremely wet" the day before the hearing and said he would not grant any easement allowing stormwater infrastructure on his property.
