Acushnet Planning Board clears parking lot split and releases two subdivision lots

ACUSHNET — October 17, 2025 — Acushnet Planning Board unanimously approved a parking lot subdivision and released two lots in a stalled subdivision at its October 17 meeting. Chair Mark Francois and members Steven Boucher and Bryan Deschamps approved an Approval Not Required plan for a 50-by-70-foot parking parcel at 3 Hay Street, which applicant Michael Plant is purchasing from Frank Knox to serve the commercial building he recently bought at 164 Main Street. The board also released lots 11 and 12 at Deep Brook Estates on Park Drive after owner Joe Costello said he has more than $2 million invested in the 15-lot project and is racing to pave the subdivision road before winter. Francois noted the lot-release step had not been flagged to the developer before he pulled a building permit for lot 11, saying "that's on the town." The board spent the remainder of the meeting on its sixth session of discussion about extending mixed-use commercial zoning along Main Street to Lake Street, with Town Planner Victoria Alvaro set to begin public outreach and surveys ahead of anticipated public hearings in January.
