Acushnet Board of Health Approves One-Time Fee Waiver for School Fundraiser
ACUSHNET — January 7, 2026 — Acushnet Board of Health waives food permit fees for a spring school fundraiser, with conditions. The three-member board voted unanimously at its January 7 meeting to waive temporary food booth permit fees for a St. Francis de Sales School fundraiser set for April 11, 2026 — the first such waiver granted, and explicitly limited to that single event. Chair David Davignon pushed for assurance that vendors would not profit from the event before supporting the motion, and the board required that all vendors submit their information in advance and show proof of ServSafe certification, consistent with requirements for events like the town's Peace Festival. Member Robert Medeiros separately flagged a septic design showing a roughly 50-foot run from tank to leach field, recommending a cleanout be added near the post-tank elbow as an inexpensive precaution; the comment was referred to the board's health agent for follow-up.
