Acushnet Finance Committee recommends full warrant ahead of October 27 town meeting

ACUSHNET — October 3, 2025 — Acushnet's Finance Committee unanimously backed all major articles on the Fall Town Meeting warrant at its October 3 meeting, with town meeting set for October 27. Chairperson Michael R. Boucher led the committee through 17 articles, highlighted by a unanimous recommendation on a $3.5 million golf course clubhouse project — $1.25 million from enterprise retained earnings and $2.25 million in bond anticipation notes — that members stressed will not affect the tax levy. A $625,000 appropriation ceiling for health insurance litigation against former pool administrator MSHG passed with one abstention; Vice-Chair Susan M. Delgado noted the town "more than likely" will not spend the full amount. Other free-cash items include $190,000 in capital spending for police cruisers, fire alarm upgrades, and a street sweeper supplement, plus $150,000 for emergency repairs to the elementary school roof and gymnasium. A $49,000 utility van for the Acushnet CATV department was approved from the PEG cable reserve fund, which holds $996,505.
